Supporting ex-offenders who hear voices, a free one-day course

Free. Hearing Voices Awareness training is offered to ex-offenders and ex-offender organisations. This will specifically develop skills enabling people to work in a one-to-one capacity with ex-offenders who hear voices. Training will lead to better understanding of how hearing voices, seeing visions, having other sensory experiences and beliefs might affect people who have left a secure setting. Topics covered include:

Free course - Advanced Working With Voices, by Voice Collective

This workshop builds upon the principles explored in Voice Collective's ‘Supporting Children & Young People who Hear Voices’ training, and our 'Voice Collective Group Facilitation Training'. NB: Applicants to the above course must have attended either of these.

Using examples drawn from attendee’s prior experience of working with young voice-hearers, the workshop explores the following topics:
  • Developing trust and therapeutic relationships with young people who may not trust easily

Awareness-raising workshop: Supporting Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers Who Hear Voices

This workshop provides an opportunity for those already engaged in supporting young refugees and asylum seekers (in Immigration Removal Centres - 'IRCs' - and the community) to gain a greater understanding of voice-hearing in young refugees and asylum seekers; explore different ways of understanding voicehearing (including psychological, spiritual & medical perspectives); explore links between voices, visions, difficult feelings, trauma and life experiences; explore the impact of voice-hearing on young people; and learn about a 'toolbox' of practical coping strategies to manage diffic

Paranoia & Beliefs - Group Facilitation Training, 14, 19 and 19 December 2017

Since their inception in the late 80s, Hearing Voices Groups have become internationally established as a valuable source of support for people who have unusual sensory perceptions (e.g. voices & visions). Groups provide a safe space for people to share experiences and to find ways of living with them successfully. For those who don't identify as voice-hearers, Paranoia & Beliefs Groups can provide a similar kind of support. But the emphasis instead is on exploring and sharing different realities and beliefs.
