What do we offer?
We have both qualified and trainee counsellors or psychologists working in a wide range of therapy options, including: integrative, person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and family therapy.
Please note that at Meridian Wellbeing we offer counselling sessions in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes and is typically once a week. These sessions are subject to charge and depending on your client’s circumstances, we are able to offer the service in a tiered costing:
- Tier 1: £30-£50 – Conducted by a Fully Qualified professional counsellor – Short waiting list
- Tier 2: £15 Conducted by a Part Qualified trainee counsellor – Subject to waiting list
- Free Service: Free – Only available under extenuating circumstances* - Limited availability
*The free service we offer may be subjected to a means of testing whereby due to extenuating circumstances the client may be unable to pay and is typically subject to a longer waiting list. This may be due to financial hardship, unemployment, or retirement but will ultimately be a management decision.
Please note, whilst we are typically able to offer face-to-face counselling sessions at the Meridian Wellbeing offices, due to the current lockdown these have been suspended. Instead, we are offering remote sessions delivered over video conference platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Skype. Sessions can also be delivered over the telephone.
Who should use this service?
This service is specifically for Chinese people living in London.
What is the referral process for this service?
The service starts with a referral to us either externally or by the individual. The client is then invited for an initial assessment. In order for us to provide a service, the client must consent to the external referral.
Once this has been confirmed the client will be invited to attend an initial assessment. This assessment is conducted at the convenience of the client and is free of charge. It allows the counsellor to better understand the client’s needs and goals and check that we are the right service for them. Should the individual choose to proceed with counselling, the sessions will then be booked depending on both the counsellor’s and their availability.
