Paranoia & Beliefs - Group Facilitation Training, 14, 18 and 19 December '17

Since their inception in the late 80s, Hearing Voices Groups have become internationally established as a valuable source of support for people who have unusual sensory perceptions (e.g. voices & visions). Groups provide a safe space for people to share experiences and to find ways of living with them successfully. For those who don't identify as voice-hearers, Paranoia & Beliefs Groups can provide a similar kind of support. But the emphasis instead is on exploring and sharing different realities and beliefs. There are currently 18 Paranoia & Beliefs peer support groups in London and 29 Hearing Voices Groups. Additionally, some groups embrace both voices and beliefs within the one group.

'Paranoia & Beliefs - Group Facilitation Training' is for people with lived experience of voices/visions, support workers, psychologists, OTs, social workers, therapists, nurses etc.

This three-day training course, which continues on 18 and 19 December, equips you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to either set up a new Paranoia & Beliefs Group or co-facilitate an existing one. It includes: Exploring diverse understandings of ‘paranoia’ & the distress that may be related to unusual beliefs; coping strategies and pathways to recovery; rethinking power and empowerment; planning, launching & establishing safe and effective peer support groups; and practical group facilitation skills and problem solving.

Full details are available here. Free places are available to people with their own lived experience of voices or beliefs.
