An online event supporting, witnessing and in solidarity with prospective and registered mental health practitioners of Black African and Caribbean origin, descent or heritage on being with our own and responding to clients’ experiences of anti-Black trauma.
Please note that this event is targeted exclusively at prospective and registered mental health practitioners from Black African and Caribbean backgrounds.
In response to recent events circulating in the news, the Black and Minority Ethnics in Psychiatry & Psychology (BIPP) Network would like to bring awareness to, and highlight the mental health impacts of living with anti-Black atrocities - such as George Floyd - on prospective and registered Black mental health practitioners’ mental health in a supportive online event.
Aims:
To bring awareness to, and highlight the mental health impacts of exposure to anti-Black atrocities on prospective and registered mental health practitioners of Black African and Caribbean origin, descent or heritage.
To discuss models, theories and/or approaches of race-based trauma (or racial trauma).
To provide prospective and registered mental health practitioners of Black African and Caribbean origin, descent or heritage on how to be with, and support others with moving towards wellbeing.
